Scouting for Girls

Roy Stride singing for Scouting for Girls at Rock City - photo by Dom Henry (c)

Scouting for Girls have captured the hearts of a young myspace generation, you can tell this because said young teens are going bonkers in the front row having snapped up all the tickets. The lads from Harrow were greeted by squeals of delight and shouts of “Show us yer cock!” and “I’ll have yer!” … eeh! them Nottingham lasses…

First of the two supporting bands for the evening were Go:Audio who rustled up an energetic barrage of catchy Killers influenced pop which had the largely female audience leaping about. Following them were Clocks who, on their last night of the tour, seemed to be a bit down in the dumps, which didn’t help their mid tempo indie pop fill the gap left by Go:Audio, or at least the crowd didn’t seem to think so.

The main act themselves were pretty good, full of the high of their rising fame they were good humoured, if a bit gushy, and the drooling girlies in the front were lapping up all the ‘we love you’ banter. They steadily worked through their album to good effect and handled the stage antics pretty well, I wonder if they entertained any of the rampant Notts lasses in the tour bus afterwards…
