Prospect Lane & Nephu Huzzband
Prospect Lane and Nephu Huzzband were supporting Hot Club De Paris for the Nottingham installment of the JD set. Prospect Lane were on first and to their credit they put on a genuinely entertaining show despite being the ice breakers, mixing all sorts of styles and indie tempos from thoughtful to thumping.
The lead guy Michael clearly has the entertainer inside him, photogenic, bags of enthusiasm and not shy of leaping about. Well done that man, reminded me of the Hives.
Nephu Huzzband continued the lively pace, with the Nottingham lads brand of punchy indie reminding me of Franz Ferdinand, only meaner and more edgy. Needless to say they were well received. Their throbbing guitars and chanty choruses are the stuff anthems are made of, fingers crossed with a bit of polish and label magic they’ll be making waves in big venues before too long.
Junktion 7 isn’t the easiest place to shoot due to its low ceilings and black painted decor. Fortunately the tech staff are always really helpful and with an ST-E2 transmitter unit handling my auto focus and a bit of off camera flash there were some decent pics to be had. All of which are in black and white, in keeping with the Jack Daniels brand look, you can check out the ones they used at the JD set website.
